This is a large, expansive property consisting of multiple buildings, restaurants, and pools. It's family friendly - there were lots of kids here during our visit. Thankfully, there is an adults only pool. Breakfast is served as a large buffet in the main building. It includes many types of bread and croisants, fruits, vegetables, eggs, and more. My favorite was the apricot croisant. Just going from our room in building 5 to breakfast and the pool, we put on 2000 steps. Plus, walking up and down multiple staircases. Our residence was a clean, large, and lovely one bedroom apartment with 1 and a 1/2 baths, a large terrace with a sea view, and two tvs. The full kitchen was quite useful after we brought home leftovers. Note:The freezer was small with just room for an ice tray. The bed was comfortable. I particularly liked the Ritual brand soaps provided. The towels were large, thin, and absorbant; the soft, plush ones were available only at the pool. Staff were helpful. There were blackout shades for all the windows except the one in the bathroom. The chocolates that came with turndown service and the welcome snacks were really good.

Excellent Resort with Stunning Views and a Fantastic Spa We stayed at Sun Gardens Dubrovnik as a couple from 3rd–10th June and had a very enjoyable stay. We chose a Residence Apartment and were impressed by the amount of space. The accommodation included a separate bedroom, kitchen, sitting area, and a balcony with excellent sea views. The apartment was comfortable and well-maintained. The kitchen was stocked with useful essentials including sugar and dishwasher tablets, which was a nice touch. The staff throughout the resort were friendly and helpful, and housekeeping was particularly good. On arrival, the room only contained instant coffee, but when we requested a coffee machine one was delivered very quickly, which was appreciated. The only disappointment in the room was that the towels were rather threadbare and could do with being replaced. The safe in the room is in a dreadful position at floor level in a wardrobe. One significant issue during our stay was that the lift in our Residence block was out of service for the entire week. Given the number of steps throughout the resort, this was inconvenient and may be a particular concern for guests with mobility issues. The resort offers a good selection of restaurants. We particularly liked the variety available, including an Italian restaurant and a steakhouse, while several of the other dining options focus mainly on seafood. The facilities are excellent. There are three large swimming pools and a pebble beach with crystal-clear water. One thing worth noting is that there are a considerable number of steps between the beach area and some of the accommodation, which may be challenging for guests with mobility issues. A particularly useful facility is the small grocery store on site. While prices are understandably higher than those in regular supermarkets, it stocks most everyday essentials that guests are likely to need. Given that the nearest larger supermarkets are at least a 10-minute drive or taxi ride away, we found the convenience well worth it. The staff in the store were also consistently friendly and helpful. The spa deserves special mention. It is excellent, with high-quality facilities and treatments that are reasonably priced compared with many other luxury resorts. The location is peaceful and offers beautiful views, although it is a little way outside Dubrovnik Old Town. The hotel provides both a boat shuttle and a bus shuttle into the city. The bus service runs more frequently than the boat, but both services incur an additional charge and the bus shuttle must be pre-booked, so some forward planning is required. Lunch options around the pools are somewhat limited. Ordering is largely QR code-based, which works well enough, but the menu choices could be expanded to provide more variety for guests spending the day at the resort. During our stay there were also a couple of private functions taking place which resulted in certain pool areas being unavailable to guests. This is understandable, but it would have been helpful to receive advance notification in the room or via the resort information system. Another minor issue was that gardening and maintenance work sometimes started quite early in the morning. While the grounds are beautifully maintained, the noise occasionally detracted from what would otherwise have been a peaceful breakfast on the balcony overlooking the sea. The resort promotes an “app”, but it is actually a website, and we found it somewhat confusing to navigate between the resort app/site and the main resort webpage when trying to find restaurant menus, opening times and information about available services. During our stay the resort was pleasantly quiet, with only a small number of families, mostly with pre-school-aged children. Combined with the fantastic June weather, it made for a very relaxing atmosphere. Overall, we felt Sun Gardens Dubrovnik offered very good value for money, with spacious accommodation, excellent facilities, friendly service and spectacular views. While there are a few areas where communication and maintenance could be improved, these did not detract significantly from an otherwise excellent holiday. We would happily return.
