Valamar Meteor Hotel

This was our second visit to the Valamar Meteor and once again enjoyed our two week holiday. Rooms are clean and comfortable and all the staff are helpful and friendly nothing is to much trouble for them. However couple of minor dissapointments we found the food was good but lacked a few things from last year ie: freshly carved meat and variety in evening and fresh fruit at breakfast. Lovely pool area and in great position for walking and proximity to the town. We wouldn't hesitate to return hopefully next year.

If you have kids - This hotel is in a lovely safe area with great kids amenities including a soft play, open kids club with lovely staff, bikes to ride in reception and a water slide. We paid for a side sea view suite, however the balcony and view wasn’t great so the hotel kindly allowed us to move. These rooms shouldn’t be sold at such a higher price or put as suites! The rooms are the smallest we have stayed in. There are so many great elements to this hotel: - kid friendly in most areas. - amazing food choice for adults especially if you like a great variety of salads and desserts. - amazing next level spa that has recently been opened wow! and it’s free to use for hotel guests. - great location right on the beach A few things let it down: - No kids food section at the evening meal, with simple foods, eg, plain pasta, nuggets, for most kids! - No lifeguard (especially when the slide is in use?) I haven’t come across this before at a four star and above hotel? - The air con in the room is not up to standard. I am usually the one freezing with air con on holiday but even when it was set at 16 degrees, it was still too warm in the room and we struggled to sleep at night. We spoke to lots of other guests with the same issues. I think the rooms generally inc. bathrooms and air con need a refit. We dealt with a lovely manager called Maria who went above and beyond and made our stay extra enjoyable - many thanks again Maria!

We had a lovely holiday and would recommend the hotel to families with young children as the pool facilities are perfect, and there are some lovely touches in the hotel which help with bringing young children. Pros: - the hotel is literally adjacent to the beach which was beautiful. The beach is pebbles though so bring sand shoes - very clean! Rooms were spotless, and the restaurant was very clean too - food is delicious. Lots of options every evening and breakfast was also a hit with the kids due to the pastries on offer! - kids splash pad was fantastic - kept the kids entertained all day, every day. The slide was a firm favourite amongst our children - there’s a soft play inside the reception area which again, was very clean! But meant the kids could go in and play while we had a drink before / after dinner - rooms were clean and had things such as kids toilet seats and kids steps so they could reach the sink if you needed them - lots of sunbeds so we never struggled to get a place by the pool Cons: - the prices! On our first day, we got a round of drinks from the snack bar by the pool. A 330ml can of Pepsi - €5.50! A 500ml bottle of water - €3.30! Total rip off and absolutely no need for those prices. - sudden inflation…! We bought a gin and tonic as part of the Happy Hour on day one - €4.50. By the time Half Term really started on the Monday (25th), the cost of the gin & tonic was suddenly €6 during Happy Hour - the tiles around the kids splash pad (the one nearest the snack bar) doesn’t have slip tiles, so making sure your kids are either wearing sand shoes or don’t run is a must - the second splash pad down by the artificial grass wasn’t open/running during our stay, despite it being very warm and it being Half Term. We saw some workers hoovering the dirt out of it on the day we were leaving so I expect it will be open now, but a real shame that our children didn’t get to use it - no first aid kits! My son cut his foot so I went to the snack bar to ask for a plaster and they said they had nothing and to go to reception. - there was a party/disco to the left of the hotel on the Saturday night which went on til 2am in the morning. Kept us awake so maybe take earplugs if you’re noise sensitive All of the above said, we had a brilliant holiday and would definately recommend to anyone wanting a child friendly beach break. Note - the transfer time from Split airport to the hotel is about 1.5 hours if you’re using a private transfer, and 2ish hours if you’re on a coach. If you come out of the back of the hotel, and walk left for 10 minutes you end up at the old Town and the marina which is beautiful. It’s had a lot of investment so it’s all modern looking. A nice place to go get a coffee. If you come out of the hotel, and turn right, there’s like a promenade of shops and restaurants so you can go and buy drinks, water and crisps and bring them back to the hotel. (A six pack of 330ml of Coke was €5.25 so you get six for the price of 1 at the hotel bar!). The staff were all very pleasant and polite - can’t comment on the kids club as we didn’t use it.

On arrival everyone was so friendly,luggage was taken to our room for us and the room was very clean amd.a.good size with everything in there we needed. The only negative would be our tiny balcony which as a couple in our 60s we found very difficult to sit on and enjoy, The views were bits sea views side views amd locals homes Breakfast had plenty to choose from every day Beach towels were also provided and rooms towels changed when you wanted . Lovely indoor pool if you experience bad weather and also a private beach area We would stay here again

We had such a lovely time at Hotel Meteor ☀️ Beautiful sea view, cozy rooms, delicious breakfast, and super friendly staff. Everything felt relaxing and welcoming from the first moment. Makarska stole our hearts — we’ll definitely be back! 💙
