Hotel Horizont

Requested a kettle from reception staff Marino before my trip and got the kettle on arrival. Staff all friendly and welcoming in the dining room , buffet style but a nice choice at mealtimes . Kristina and the older gent Redo I think his name was were friendly always smiling. All reception staff were attentive and happy to assist with enquiries. Spa was good and most importantly clean. The receptionist at the spa was lovely . Went early season so there wasn't entertainment but I enjoyed my stay. Room although outdated was clean and adequate for my weeks stay. Hotel is situated in a lovely area . Bars, shops and restaurants were all locally situated. All in all a pleasant stay and would stay again as travelling solo i felt safe.

Horizont is currently undergoing significant changes. After selling its sister hotel Grand Slavia it is hoped that a substantial investment will be made to update Horizont. A lot of the team of staff from Grand Slavia have left and now work at Horizont which is a positive step as they are excellent in customer service, knowledge and languages. The hotel itself is still significantly outdated and as such its clientele are older. It is quite sad to see a hotel which holds such a prominent position in Baška Voda - beach front, close to all shops, bars, restaurants snd cafes - left in the late 80’s. It has never changed or updated its rooms since opening therefore no wonder guests comment it feels dated. Dark brown furnishings fill the hotel and rooms. The once beautiful dining area / restaurant now a jaded buffet room with standard lukewarm buffet foods. Long gone are the days of the Thursday gala dinners, live music and traditional dance shows. The spa downstairs has huge potential however, facilities are hit and miss for opening. Treatments are available however possibly due to lack of guests there is not always someone available to facilitate this. There are vast areas which are unused and have so much potential however, given the large choice of accommodation in Baška Voda it is clear that unless Horizont overhauls its entire facilities and guest rooms its majority clientele will continue to be elderly and minimal. Positives are that improvements are being made, a new bar menu is available during the day with fresh wraps, sandwiches etc. The pools are clean and dumbed available for guests. The staff are attentive and friendly and the position is stunning. A backdrop of the beautiful Biokovo mountains and abundant pine trees surrounding the perimeter. The beach a stones throw down the steps or through the car park and along the path. The beautiful clear waters of the Adriatic and the clean pebble beach run along the whole front of Baška Boda and neighbouring Baško Poljie.

The hotel is situated in a beautiful area over looking beaches and surrounded by mountains, The resort is well equipped with some gorgeous restaurants near by the sun rise and sunsets were stunning and some wonderful walks The hotel itself is clean and well maintained staff are extremely polite however some of the facilities are dated , rooms need a reset and redecoration and need to include tea and coffee. The gym has outdated and odd equipment with pieces broken The spa was beautiful but only limited access no treatments available in April but the pools were lovely , The food was adequate but supposedly hot food served at breakfast was cold and this was disappointing.. A very relaxing stay with some improvements needed

We were surprised by some of the reviews that were knocking the quality of the food on offer. From our own experience we found the quality and variety of food on offer to exceed what you’d expect from most hotels offering buffet self service. Especially noticeable was the amount of fresh fruit, salad and in house baked fresh bread available each morning and evening. My wife has a number of food allergies and can’t eat dairy and the Restaurant Manager was amazing and specially sourced Goats Cheese and Kefia just for her! We’ve been fortunate enough to have had over 50 years of travelling all around the world, staying in some wonderful five star hotels but never had that before anywhere. It’s correct that the hotel is of a slightly older style, but it is perfectly maintained and has an excellent Spa and pool complex.

Stayed here for 12 nights. Location is excellent. Pool area outside great and everywhere very clean. Indoor pool and wellness area are great too. Room decor dated but again very clean. We booked a superior room but not sure it was any better than a basic one. Aircon in room worked well. Generally staff were efficient but not friendly, especially reception staff. When checking out no words were spoken at all. Aircon in communal areas not cold, especially dining room. At times unbearably hot. First few days were fairly quiet but very busy from 13th June. Not easy to find a table at dinner. Food average although quite a lot of choice. Definitely not worth 4*. Compared to the prices of other hotels (booked package) I think this wasn't too bad but as they say, you get what you pay for. We did have a great holiday but would rate hotel as a 3*.
