Ramada Resort by Wyndham Khao Lak

Overall we enjoyed our stay thanks to the wonderful staff. We visited for 10 nights in wet season, so the hotel was only half occupied. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and were surprised to be allocated a room with 2 single beds. Very odd for a married couple. We struggled to sleep well in one tiny bed, as we kept thinking we would roll onto the floor. The room is set up adequately, but needs improvements. There is no where to sit, as there is only one desk chair in the room. No sofa to sit and read a book, even though there is plenty of room for one. The only other place to sit is on the bed. This means if one person is sitting on the desk chair, the other has to stand or sit on the bed. There is a table and 2 chairs on the balcony, but being monsoon season we could rarely sit outside due to the rain. There is a very small bench for a single small suitcase. Luckily we had the spare bed to put our cases on, but if you have a clam shell style bag you will not be able to open it flat on the little bench. There is also a very odd metal bar over the suitcase shelf. I hit my head on it 3 times as I bent to get something from the suitcase. We could not work out what it was for. The bathroom is very very large. It has a weird louver panel wall that does not fully close, meaning you can see and hear the person using the bathroom from the bedroom. It has a giant tub, but no bubble bath to use in it. We just ended up putting the wet towels in it. There is no towel rail to dry your towel, only 2 hooks, so you have to use wet towels as they only supply 2 towels in the room each day. The shower was impressive with plenty of hot water, good pressure and a choice of regular, or rainfall shower heads. The staff are what make this hotel. Every single staff member would smile and greet us whenever we passed. We had the breakfast buffet to ourselves most mornings and the Sassi beach club was never crowded. The staff at the restaurants were attentive and remembered our drinks orders from almost the first day. We particularly want to mention Wawa, Pop, Nine, Nook, Bow, Aui, Field and Nonny in the restaurants. They made us feel like family. King and Pong from the front desk and driveway were very helpful and also need recognition for their service. Aside from our disappointment with the room, the hotel itself is lovely. The benefit of being so small is they offer personalized service. The hotel is well located with many excellent restaurants, massage services and convenience shops all within walking distance. We would return here without hesitation, purely because of the amazing staff and excellent location.

From the moment we arrived the staff made sure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. We also used a Luxury Escape package which was fantastic value and found the staff super accommodating and knowledgeable. Rooms were spotless and as we arrived super late to check in there was even complementary food/fruit in our room.

We really loved our stay. We couldn’t fault anything at all. Good sized rooms all of which overlook the garden and many have a view of the pool and ocean. Well appointed bathrooms. The pool is large but only about 1.3 metres deep and it was very warm in May. The ocean was a nice place for a swim. Breakfast is great with so many choices and refreshing juices. Food was delicious. We had a Luxury Escapes package which included daily lunch or dinner for our 8 night stay and there was a generous range of choices. The Spa was excellent. Thanks Tik Tok. The restaurant staff were amazing and always ready to help. Special mention to Joe, the Food and Beverage Manager, and his team including Aui, Nony and Pop. You are friendly and professional. We can highly recommend Ramada Resort by Wyndham at Khao Lak.

Package purchased through luxury escapes as many before. I would class this property as 3 stars even though clean & adequate. Good spot on beach. We were treated differently as luxury escapes customers. Meals smaller, hapy hour cocktails tasted as mixed with home brew (tasted like ethanol?) & staff not even allowed to use blender as "luxury escapes package". Lack of english & extras.. pool towel station, no courtesy bus, no call taxis etc coffee shop basic, etc. Rooms nice, some lovely staff (Aui & Nony) pool area nice but resort looks tired compared to other resorts in Thailand. Other nicer resorts nearby. Staff try hard but has a tacky atmosphere.

Everything about my time at this small resort — from the facilities to the food, the hospitality and especially the caring, super-friendly staff — was first class. I had a wonderful time!
