Hotel Admiral

the service was just about adequate .... the breakfast was eastern european fare and was the same old same old each and every day .. coffee was from a machine ... the bar for the whole hotel is in reception with an outside are for some 12 tables or so .. when it rains it is unusable... the pool is only open from June and has a small bar which does NOT open till mid June so if you want any kind of drink you have to leave the pool ... finds a bar somewhere else and pay another business for your service .... we witnessed cleaning staff emptying bin bags of rubbish onto a balcony to go through and search for aluminium cans ( 2 Indian guys ) when i discussed this with reception i was told there was no entry to that room and i was effectively lying .. until my wife produced pictures of the same to confirm. they said the room was used by staff to change in ?????... i have stayed in hotels all over the world .. even the ones in India don't have staff sifting through the waste on the balconies "

Mixed feelings about this hotel.Reception staff not all friendly and one lady with blond hair extremely rude.No offer with baggage help,hot water goes off if hotel is full.Breakfast was lovely,dinner buffet not so good.It has a corporate feel rather than a welcoming holiday feel.Cleaning staff and waiting staff were helpful The outside of the hotel is a blot on the landscape left over from communist era. Been to different places and hotels in Croatia and all were superior to this.Would not recommend Opatje or hotel Admiral.If you want the ambience of a glorified Travel lodge go for it.

The hotel Admiral is a modern building which doesn't quite fit into the look of the other elegant hotels in Opatija but it has a great location right on the sea front overlooking a little harbour. I had a superior room with seaview which was very nice had all the little extras including a fridge and was very quiet. No kettle at first but just ask the staff and they will bring you one. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was usually delicious especially the roasted meats but the feeling was a little chaotic as it's a buffet style restaurant. If you don't mind not having your room cleaned every day they will leave you a voucher for a free tea, coffee or juice in the bar. The bed was a little hard for me and the aircon didn't work the week I was there but it wasn't too much of a problem with the cooler weather.

We had a fab week at the Hotel Admiral. The hotel is situated on the 10km lungomare promenade which is perfect if you enjoy scenic coastal walks. There are some nice bars and a great gelato shop (aRoma) situated along the promenade. The spa facilities were great, at no extra charge. The only criticism would be the gym, its very small and basic, improvements needed. The hotel catered fairly well for vegetarians, the food was well cooked and tasty. The food labelling is poor or non-existent, so be very careful if you have any food allergens or are vegetarian. We got caught out twice with meat on our plate through the poor food labelling. Although once this was reported to the restaurant manager they were quick to respond and help. The room was modern and overlooked the harbour, with a nice sitting area on the balcony. The sun terrace area of the hotel is lovely and peaceful, a great touch. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed 6 nights as part of group. Hotel good position, walkable to town centre, decent sized rooms with balconies and lovely view; staff helpful….BUT carpets throughout very stained, basin plugs leak, inadequate lifts for size of hotel, units in rooms badly designed with many sharp corners, inadequate lighting especially in area with kettle…outdoor pool large and pleasant but to access must exit hotel past kitchens, down service road, cross public area, climb flight of rusting steps… Buffet breakfast good, dinner inconsistent ( not always hot) and very crowded. So curate’s egg- could be great but currently not 4+.
