Hotel Splendid

Gonna give an honest review. Firstly, please be aware that if you’ve booked sea view or a top floor room, the hotel doesnt have a lift/elevator so you’ll be lugging your suitcases up 3 flights of stairs. When we arrived, there were 2 grown men on reception to check us in, neither of them offered to help carry my partners suitcase for her, which anywhere is just common courtesy. We just came from a 4 day stay at Hvar island, where one kind gentleman carried both of our suitcases all the way across the resort for us, and these 2 couldn’t even offer to carry them up some stairs. Our room did have a very nice sea view from the balcony, however our whole trip was ruined by a construction works across the water, extremely loud digger pekking from 8am-5pm, so if you are coming any time soon and think you’re gonna be relaxing around the hotel, think again. The hotel corridors also smell like an old people’s home, as soon as you open the doors it hits you in the face. The decor, carpets, curtains and the smell make you think you’re walking around a care home. The breakfast, can’t say too much it’s just the standard slop you get at any 2/3 star hotel. The only thing that holds this hotel together is the balcony view and location. But don’t expect much else

A fabulous restaurant great variety and an excellent deal. The host (Aleksandria) couldn't have been more friendly, helpful and welcoming. Also so e excellent views across the bay. Thoroughly recommended

We stayed for 5 nights and we enjoyed it. Remember, it's a 3 star hotel and it's not very expensive. Room was very clean and shower was powerful. Staff were pleasant and hard working. Terrace and views of the sunset were lovely and it's very well situatated for the bus (crucially, it's the second stop going into Dubrovnik, so you always manage to get on and get a seat). I thought the breakfast was a decent 7/10. The buffet dinner was 25 euros including a glass of fizz and it was ok - not one for every night, but certainly passable and cheaper than eating in the strip. If I had a niggle it would be asking residents 30 euros for a pair of sunbeds. Not had that before at a hotel. But overall, nice enough and yes, for location and cost, I'd recommend.

Staff were fantastic especially Alexandra she is so lovely nothing was too much and she knows how to make one mean Pina colada, Nico was also top notch he took great care of me, shower was powerful, rooms were clean and the bed was comfy, if the food had of been better I would have given a 5 but the food was dreadful, breakfast passable, dinner was terrible and as for lunch it's one of the worst burgers I've ever had complained about it twice and they still had the cheek to charge me.

Nice hotel, clean, reasonably priced with stunning views. Lots of steps down to hotel and also to the pebble beach. Staff were informative and friendly, gave advice on bus services and local shops. I had a double room with a seaview, it was small but suited me as a solo traveller. It was very clean. Beds were comfy if you like a firm mattress. Small fridge in room with tea and coffee making facilities. Plenty of storage space and a free to use safe. Shower is great, powerful, clean bathroom, hotel hairdryer on the wall which I personally found difficult to use, prefer a separate one but was ok. Food at breakfast is buffet style, enough to choose from and was fresh. Dinner buffet had some nice choices, food was lovely just a slight niggle that it was luke warm. Drinks were what you would expect with hotel prices. Staff very attentive and polite in all areas. The bus outside the hotel runs every 15 minutes and takes you to the old town, €2.50 or buy a pass. There is a beach shop, supermarket, few nice restaurants and a fresh bakery if you turn left out of the hotel and walk down, 5 to 10 minutes. Tip...buy your excursion tickets through Get Your Guide app...saves you a lot of money!
